Got all dressed up for the Pink Party

Then didn't go because it got cold and I felt sick. Been feeling off colour for a week or two. But I was pinked up. Pink hat, pink leather driving gloves, pink lip gloss, pink stripey top. New necklace, new ring.

Today I hit hot yoga for the first time in 3 weeks and my goodness, I felt about a hundred years old. It was really hard. I've booked again so I keep up the momentum because my God, my body had seized up.

I'm not wanting to tempt fate, but we have had 2 quiet nights. So maybe the rats have gone. Dear God please let it be true.

Did a spot of tourist shopping in the Oriental bazaar today - was fun, I loe to watch all the various people coming and going. So many different nationalities.

I have a date with Hidetoshi and hubby is insisiting that I give him my full attention. Which is strange because I want to run away with him and Hub is wel aware of this.

GOSH!

I did this:

There I go

off of this:

Dear God

At the weekend. It was a very moving experience and it took a long long time, not to get up or jump off, but to be able to stand up and take my hands off the log and balance on the top. It was so very hard and only the support of my friends and their singing my favorite song of all time 'Raspberry Beret' over and over could actually take my mind off the urge to puke 9 metres and the overwhelming fear that I was going to die or smash my teeth out of my head. I did it, I jumped, I cried tears of physical relief.

*******************************

We have rats. I am shattered. Fuckin rats in the walls the ceiling and finally, I discovered yesterday morning, in the cupboards. They had nibbled through packets of ramen, polenta, nori, I could go on. It has been going on for a year that they have been present but with spring and more places being demolished around here they have gone mental recently. The agent and his handyman came round the other day after some very firm phone calls and blocked up the holes and put down some heavy duty poison and those things they can stick to. I don't care now. I don't care if they die in the rafters so long as their death-juice doesn't seep down onto me in the night. I only care that I don't get woken by the sound of horses overhead at 3am/4am/5am tomorrow morning.

The agent also left 5000 yen to replace the food. All very well but that won't go very far to pay for the plastic surgery I am going to need after months of being woken up by what sounds like rottweilers racing in the roof. I look tired. Seriously I have been woken more or less every night for months by these bastards. And every time I get so tired I can barely function, I call the agency and the hanyman comes round with some incompetent Rentokil type guys and they spend about 5 minutes looking at some sunflower seeds laced with ineffective poison that they put in the part of the roof where there is least activity then leave and do jack all else. I am getting cross again writing about this.

I feel sick. Is it the rats and their presence? A stomach cold? Or a hang over from the sickness I felt after the weekend pole jumping?

Today we went to the baseball. It was boring. The end.

Selling Drinks
Yokohama Baystars Stadium

Sorry, but I can't get into baseball. It was cool having a day out in Yokohama though. I really like Yokohama. Being from an area with a strong maritime and port history, I feel very much at home there. I love being near the sea any where in the world it is special. With, perhaps the notable exception of Port Talbot.

Chinatown

We went for Chinese food in China Town, spent 20 minutes watching the baseball before getting cold and bored then played ball in the park near the baseball ground. Walked to Sakuragicho and mooched in the red brick buildings. What was cool was that we felt like we were on a date! We haven't seen much of each other with him being in US and me being away at the weekend, so it was funny. Here, ladies is a question, out to me by my man:

"Would it be OK to take a girl to an 'All you can eat' place on the first date?"

Chicken Head

My answer was no. Not really. It seems cheap. Although I wouldn't mind. What do you think? I think first date should be something different. All you can eat places can wait til later. Like weekly sex in the same position. Maybe this question came from the fact that we were in an all you can eat kaiten Chinese place and we felt like we were on our first date. In actual fact, one of our first dates was in Yokohama. We went up Landmark Tower and there was a monkey dressed as a human doing tricks. It distressed me. Especially since it was wearing the standard monkey-as-human wear of waiscoat-and-no-pants. Which is very very wrong.

Blissed out Saturday

Did not leave the house. Watched loads of Sopranos episodes. Did washing. Ordered my first purchase from Tokyo Made. Ate sandwiches. Relaxed. I even just sat through one episode of the Sopranos. Just sat through it. Doing nothing else. It was amazing. Hubby away, so no conversation even. Had a bath. Face pack. Aired the futons. Listened to music. Listened to this. Browsed Flickr. Found I have over 2000 views on this picture:

Squids on sticks

because of this article. Very excited about receiving my goods from Tokyomade.

PAINTBALL!

Paintballing was a total blast.

The enemies unite

It was such great fun, I surprised myself with my stealth and reconnaisance abilites. And my rank stupidity, lack of strategy and suicidal tendencies. That would be a brilliant name for a rock band. I climbed insurmountable obstacles and shot pellets of paint at people.

Sexy renegade rebel

As you can see from the photo above, not only did I prove to be an amazing rebel, but also look sexy with overalls.

My legs are killing me from climbing steep slopes and running with a gun. And sliding down slopes with a gun. I actually did climb up some pretty steep slopes that at first glance I thought would be impossible, but then totally got up there. And it felt good. Very good. The front of my thighs are a bit shaky now though.

I recommend paintballing. We did it at the base in Yokosuka. They also offer a wide range of outdoor activities including camping.
Not only that but they also prepared a campfire and BBQ for us afterwards! Tremendous.

The Circus

I am part of a circus. A circus my husband loves to have a good hearty laugh at every time I come home from the circus and a circus that makes me feel a bit sick and a bit stupid every time I have to participate in the circus. Which is often. And often for free.
***********************************
Thank God school is on Spring break and I can try and get some normalcy into my life and be with hubby a bit more. ONLY he is off to Boston for a week this week.
***********************************
I went to yoga after a 3 week absence at the weekend and took the active class. Bad idea. I felt sick during the session and had to stop and have a little child posey rest. Will book in for a gentler session this weekend. Or a couple of sessions. I'm getting a reall belly on me. I get so hungry about late afternoon and always hit the convenie for snacks and with not getting to yoga and doing a lot more sitting work, I am getting a bit unfit. Not good.
***********************************
Tomorrow will see me participate in a paintballing session in Yokosuka. I am a scorpion. Apparently.
***********************************
I am becoming thick. I haven't read a good book in ages. My head is full of logistics and things I need to do and anticipating the remarks I will receive for the things I haven't done and the creative part of my grey matter is being beaten with a shitty stick. I have things to do. To get on with. With my hubby. This week will be a test with him not here every night to humor me and indulge me as I relay the hilarities and difficulties of the day! And to snuggle when it's cold. And to tell me I'm doing OK. Even when I know I'm not.
************************************
This week I bought my ticket to Brisbane for 9 days in Golden Week. The most expensive time of year for travelling, in Japan. I nearly laid a freakin egg in the Travel Agents. Sadly not a golden one. The agent was laughing at me as I shed a tear over the travel schedule as I always end up travelling in high season and always use the same agent and always end up laying an egg when I see the final travel schedule. Oh well, I look forward to the trip. A wedding and some time with friends. It will be worth it. Some time with Brisbane's big girl's shops will be welcome too. Must not overspend.

In other news, April and her 2 kid family is working out nicely! She is amazing, taking it all very much in her stride. Or so I thought. She relayed this to me the other day on the back of her telling me that she has moments in the day when it all gets a bit much. During one of these moments she had this conversation with Sasuke:

'Sas, I'm fed up'
'I don't like fed up Mummy'

Then she said to me "Sarah I'M CONFIDING IN MY THREE YEAR OLD!" and we did chuckle! I mean does this look like the face of a woman who is not taking it all in her stride?

Crepes! Bretagne style. Delicious. We ate early dinner in here. I have been going there for 5 years ever since April and I discovered it back in the day when we would pop into Harajuku at the weekends. The crepes and atmosphere are great! Really great. Go there. Their Kir are wonderful too.

Model!

I was just reading back on my archived posts because my Blog is nearly a year old and I was reminded of the day I spent being a model in a Western style house in Yokohama, which was an interesting experience. Not for one minute did I think they would actually have used any of the images because I was dressed in:

A revolting skirt (white, gypsy skirt - calf length, too small)
A revolting blouse (white, gypsy t shirt - too small, mismatch to skirt)
And nasty shoes.
A lot of the shots were hand shots and mine look like Jessica Tandy's in 'Driving Miss Daisy' and have done since I was 15.
The boy who was supposed to be my son, didn't like me as a fake Mum and refused to do a lot of the shots.
I looked disgusting in the clothes. Frankly.

So I went onto the Amana.jp site and lo and behold - they had used a couple of the shots!

This one and this one. This is the little boy who refused to be my son. Incidentally, that's his real Dad. In clothes that most Europeans wear all the time on Sundays. Obviously. My Dad is never seen out without a cloth cap and a cravat.

So It's official. I am a model. No1 entry on CV. Model.

HANG ON Here's a full frontal! The boy was looking at his Dad saying 'I don't like this' in Dutch!
